I recommend using the Loctite Thread Sealant PST Stick, # LT37615. This Loctite sealant will prevent leaks of both gases and fluids around threaded fittings. The sealant will even work on pressurized applications.
Just apply the white, paste-like sealing on to the # UWSCAPS threads and then install in fuel tank.
