Will Curt Trailer Hitch Interfere with Foot Activated Liftgate on a 2016 BMW X1
Updated 04/13/2017 | Published 04/12/2017 >
Question:
My BMW X1 has the comfort access option in which you can kick your foot under the rear bumper and the tail gate will open automatically. Will this hitch impede or interfere with that?

For your 2016 BMW X1 the Curt hitch part # C13303 has been confirmed as a fit and would work well. The hands-free liftgate will still function on your vehicle but the worse case scenario is that you may have to aim your foot to either side of the hitch opening.
If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # EBMK4. It comes with a ball mount with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop, interchangeable ball set, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag. If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
And for trailer wiring you can use # 118717 to add a 4-Way trailer connector to the rear of the vehicle.
