Draw-Tite Sportframe Hitch Receiver Fit For A 2017 VW Golf Alltrack Not Rated For Towing

Question:

VW doesnt rate the Alltrack for towing, however I see the hitch offerings you have show 200lb tongue wgt and 2,000lb tow capacity. Can I safely tow a small camper trailer that meets these capacity ratings? If so, why doesnt VW rate the car for towing? Thanks!

The Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # 24949 that is confirmed to fit your 2017 VW Golf Alltrack is rated as a hitch receiver, and not based on your vehicle capacity. The rating is based only on testing the hitch receiver itself. These hitches can be used for accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers, so we do have some models not rated for towing that can still use the trailer hitch receiver.

I don't have any information as to why VW doesn't rate the car for towing, but it is safe to say towing with it will void your warranty, so I don't recommend it.
