Recommended Retractable Fishing Rod Tie-Down for 2 Inch Tall Gunwale on Bass Boat

The gunwale on my bass boat is only 2inch tall so the regular rod buckle is out of the question. I hope the concealed mounting kit answer to my problem. I want the rod buckle to mounted in the gunwale and not on the deck. With all that said, is the concealed mounting kit what I need?

The BoatBuckle Concealed Mounting Kit for RodBuckle Retractable Fishing Rod Tie-Down Strap # IMF14202 referenced in your question will conceal the RodBuckle tie-down strap inside of your boat's gunwale. For the kit that includes both the concealed mounting kit and also the RodBuckle retractable fishing rod tie-down strap, you will use # IMF14200-02.
I spoke with my contact at BoatBuckle and while he did state that 2 inches is not a lot to work with, the important factor will be the width of your gunwale. If you are able to reach the inside of the gunwale to install the RodBuckle hardware, then that will enable you to use the concealed mounting kit on the front.
The benefit of the concealed mounting kit is cutting a smaller profile hole in the gunwale. If you need additional height inside the gunwale, the RodBuckle can actually be mounted upside down which will buy you a little more room.
