Question:
I have a 2001 Chev 2500HD and I would like a system that is functional for both 5th wheel and gooseneck. It would be great if the system was reasonably removeable. I believe there is a system that works off some type of rails that get mounted in the bed of the truck??

The system you are looking for that is functional as a 5th wheel or a gooseneck hitch is the Custom Underbed Installation Kit for B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # BWGNRK1067-5W. This is the underbed gooseneck system that is a custom fit for your 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500 with 6-1/2 foot bed. This system is compatible with the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs # BWRVK3400-5W. This sliding hitch mounts to the underbed gooseneck system and will give you 12 inches of travel from front to back to give you clearance for turning with your short bed truck.
These products are the only ones compatible with a clean bed that offer you both the gooseneck and the 5th wheel hitch options. They are great products with excellent reviews and are made in the USA. I've attached some videos for you of these products.
