Question:
Im shopping for new surge brakes. I have a tandem axle boat trailer with two, 3700 lb. axels. Both axles have brakes. Ive narrowed the brake assemblies down to part number AKFBBRK-35R-D and AKFBBRK-35L-D. Can you tell me if the Actuator, Number DM72VR is large enough to pressurize two axles? Thank you.

Expert Reply:
The Demco Actuator # DM72VR is rated for trailers up to 7,000 pounds regardless of the number of axles. If your trailer is heavier use # DM8608601, rated for trailers up to 8,600 pounds.
The # AKFBBRK-35R-D and # AKFBBRK-35L-D brakes you've selected are for 3,500 pounds axles with a 4 bolt brake flange.
For a tandem axle brake line kit you can use # DM5428.
