Solution for Fifth Wheel Trailer that Scrapes Toolbox Around Corners

Published 02/09/2017

Question:

Hello! I have a 2500 Ram long bed that I tow a Jayco 5th wheel around with. I also have a tool box on the truck. I have a hide-a-ball inside the bed of the truck and a 5th wheel gooseneck adapter on the 5th wheel . However, I continually scrap and hit the side of my toolbox when making sharp turns such as backing into a space with the 5th wheel. Is there any solution to this?

If the trailer is level you wouldn't want to raise the nose up any higher to gain clearance. Aside from that you really would only be able to be able to go with a chest style toolbox like the # DZ8560WB which sits at the same height as most bed rails.

Here are the dimensions for you to compare to your truck bed and be sure it would fit:

60" Long x 24" wide x 18-1/8" tall
