Question:
I have a 2012 chevy equinox LT. It has a hitch with a 4 pin connector already, but I dont know if its aftermarket. I am buying a 17 ft trailer with electronic brakes. My question is, did the 2012 equinox come with the wiring already in place for ease of installation for brake controllers or not. Also, what else would I need to purchase with the controller if my vehicle did not come per wired? Thanks

Your 2012 Chevrolet Equinox does not have a brake controller connection port under the dash as many pickup trucks do, but since you already have a 4-pole harness you're halfway there. All you need to install a controller like the excellent Prodigy P3 # 90195 is our install kit # ETBC7. This kit includes all the components you'll need, from the 7-way socket itself to the wiring, connectors circuit breakers, etc. A installation video is linked for you along with a helpful article.
Your 4-pole will plug in to the mating connector on the included 7-way, and then you'll just need to make the other circuit connections on the 7-way for trailer brakes, 12V trailer power and reverse lights (if needed).
