Can I Use Thule Snow Tire Chains # TH01571255 On 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 w/Cummins Diesel Engine

Published 12/29/2010

Question:

Can this chain be used on my 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 with a Cummins engine? Some sites say you need a Twist link or V Bar type chain. Tire size is 245/70/17LT. Thanks

The item you selected, Thule Tire Chains, part # TH01571255, will fit your tire size 245/70/17LT.

Some users may prefer a twist link or V Bar Type Chain, for better traction. I would recommend the item you selected, Thule Tire Chain # TH01571255, a D Link Chain as Thule calls it, for improved traction. Using any type of snow chain will help tremendously with traction in the snow though.

Part # TH01571255 is sold as a pair of snow chains. You will want to install the snow chains on the 2 powered drive wheels on your Dodge Ram 2500, the rear wheels, when not in 4-Wheel Drive. For added traction and stability on the front of your truck, you could install a pair on the front wheels. Having the chains on all 4 wheels would be very effective, when you have the truck engaged in 4-Wheel Drive.

You will want to check with your owners manual or with your Dodge Dealership for vehicle specific instructions to see if it is safe to use snow tire chains on your 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 with Diesel Engine. I am not aware of any limitations of using snow chains on a truck with a diesel engine.

These Thule Tire Chains also include gloves, a kneeling mat, and instructions to make installation a breeze. I have linked a video review of the Thule Tire Chains, part # TH01571255, which also shows the chains being installed on a truck tire. I have also linked an FAQ on snow tire chains that you may find as a good reference.
