Why Would Draw Tite Hitch 76104 Have Higher Tongue Weight Capacity than Jeep Hitch

What makes this hitch tongue weight capacity increase over a stock hitch?

Draw Tite made the part # DT78MR to their high quality standards and found that when they tested it that it has a tongue weight capacity of 675 lbs. We really can't comment on how Jeep would have made there hitch but we do know that Draw Tite would not rate the hitch that high if it wasn't that strong.
Another thing to consider, and this may be why there is a capacity difference, is that Jeep may have rated their hitch for the same capacity as what the vehicle has to eliminate confusion. With a towing setup you are limited to the lowest rated component as the overall capacity. If your vehicle has a lower tongue weight rating in the owners manual you would have to go by it instead of the capacity of the # DT78MR.
