Question:
I moved from a 4WD vehicle to a VW GTI 2010, the difference is big, the GTI has a real bad traction on snow streets. How effective are these chains? are they durable, can you transition from snowy streets to a main clean road without problems? Thank you

Before buying snow tire chains you will want to check your owners manual or with the Volkswagen dealer, to see if you can install snow tire chains on your 2010 Volkswagen GTI, or if there are any limitations.
A 4wd vehicle is nice to have in the snow, but the tires make a difference and how somebody drives with the 4wd can make a difference. The 2010 Volkswagen GTI is a front wheel drive vehicle which is designed for performance and handling so it will use the larger 17 inch and 18 inch tires that are also designed for performance. So with that combination it is not always the best in snowy weather conditions.
Snow tire chains are very effective but will need to be installed and used properly for them to work correctly. They do have a 30 mph speed limit. The snow tire chains are very durable, but you will want to try and not use the snow tire chains on bare pavement. This will wear the chains faster and limit the control of the vehicle.
The Pewag Square-Link Snow Tire Chains, part # PWRS74, will be compatible with the 225/45R17 tire size or the 225/40R18 tire size on your vehicle.
I also recommend the Glacier Rubber Adjusters, part # PW99, to keep constant tension on the snow chains for a tight and secure fit.
