Question:
Hi there, Im very interested in buying your: etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2 Code: e98906 Just wanted to confirm that its compatibile with my 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan, and also, in the videos, where you have to cut out part of the bottom of the bumper to review drilled holes, is this designed by VW for a trailer, or are those pre-drilled holes for something else? ie - Is the Tiguan designed to tow a trailer? Many thanks for the insight!

Yes, the etrailer Hitch part # e98906 is a confirmed fit for your 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan and would work well on your vehicle. The area that gets cut out on your vehicle is designed to be removed when a hitch is installed. The crossmember above the cutout also has weld nuts attached to it which were put there for the purpose of installing a hitch so it seems very likely Volkswagen intended the vehicle to be compatible with a trailer hitch.
If you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not include a ball mount with the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, check out the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
For a no-cut/splice trailer wiring kit recommended for your vehicle we have the Tekonsha trailer wiring harness part # 119250KIT.
