Question:

I am looking at the 75531 hitch and it appears to have a plate mounted to allow one to add an elictrical connection box to the drivers side. First, is that true since you have disclaimers that the actual bar may look different. Next, your system suggested the 118442 wiring system, but that just ends in a pig tail connector, I want to go to a nice clean looking covered box in back. Is there another part number, or do I add yet another part? I refuse to put any dangling wires out the back of my car. Also, does installation of these things void any warranties?

I have just returned from the warehouse and have looked at the actual hitch. The hitch does feature the mounting plate and is exactly as shown in the photo.

The easiest method would be to keep the connector in the cargo area until needed. When you are towing, you can run the wire out the rear door and close the door on it. The weatherstripping around the rear door is thick enough that the wires will not be damaged, as long as you avoid the area around the latch. This method provides the advantage of protecting the connector from the elements.

Since you are not thrilled with that option, another possibility would be to use the existing plate on the hitch to attach a mounting bracket like part # RM-910030-5 and a Knock-out Adapter like part # HM47605. Add a foot or two of 1/2 inch loom, part # 459075-1 (sold by the foot) and you would have a very slick looking installation.

A third alternative would be to use the wire loom, and bracket part # 18144. This bracket would attach to the hitch like the bracket mentioned above.
