For your 2006 Mitsubishi Outlander, I recommend the Curt Class II Receiver Hitch, # C12293. This hitch receiver has a 3500 lb towing weight and a 300 lb tongue weight which is the highest tongue weight available for your vehicle. The tongue weight is the amount of weight that the trailer coupler puts on the ball of your hitch. Typically this is 10-15% of the total towing weight of the trailer. To tow with your hitch, the ball mount I recommend is the Curt Class II Drawbar, # C45503. This has a 3-1/2 inch rise or a 1 inch drop.
