Drawbar Will Not Fit Trailer Hitch On 2004 John Deere Buck ATV
Question:
recently purchased a John Deere Buck Ext 2004 ATV I needed a draw bar and picked one up. Was frustrated and surprised to find the holes of a standard replacement bar did not align with the JD 1 1/4 in receiver. John Deere Atv s were built for them by Bombardier not sure who built hitch receivers. None the less the holes in the receiver or drilled of center. Stated another way the hole is drilled low of center presumable so the consumer would be forced to buy a JD part. Long story short do you have a drawbar which would work. Looking for a 3 in rise 1 1/4 bar with standard ability to attach a 1 7/8 trailer ball or shackle.

The problem you probably are facing is that you have to use a Class l ball mount in the hitch receiver on your John Deere ATV. The shank on a Class ll ball mount is inserted in the receiver more than on a 1-1/4 inch receiver and the holes will not line up.
I went to the warehouse and measured the Curt Class l Drawbar, part # C45021. The distance from the end of the shank that goes in the receiver to the center of the hitch pin hole is 1-1/2 inches. This drawbar has a 4-inch rise and measures 9-1/2 inches long from center of hitch pin hole to center of ball hole. We do not have any drawbars with a 3-inch rise. You may want to measure the distance you have from the hitch pin hole to the back of the hitch that mounts on the frame of your ATV to see if this ball mount will work for you.
For a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball I recommend part # C40001.
We do have a drawbar that has a 2-5/8 inch rise and 3-1/4 inch drop. It is part # C45026.
