Expert Reply:
The Bulldog Winch Standard Series Off-Road Winch # BDW10041 could work well on your car hauling trailer, though it is designed as a recovery winch, but it ultimately will depend on the types of loads you plan on carrying if the winch is the right one for you. This Bulldog Winch # BDW10041 has an 8,000 pounds static load capacity with a vehicle recovery capacity of 5,333 pounds.
If the cars you are planning to load have functioning wheels that make them a rolling load, the winch will work well for a large variety of rolling loads. If the vehicles you are planning to load have wheels that are locked up, or are missing wheels, the winch will not be able to handle as much weight as if the load were rolling.
The mounting pattern for this winch is a 4-bolt pattern that is 10 inches x 4-1/2 inches.
