Would Curt Tri Ball part # C42KR Work For Towing 7,900 lb Trailer

Question:
Hello, I have a 30 foot travel trailer that I will be pulling with a 2011 Chevy Silverado 350 Diesel. The trailer weight is 7900 pounds empty. I need to purchase a ball mount for the hitch that is factory installed. If I go with the Curt MULTIMOUNT CODE NUMBER C42KR, will that cover me for towing the rv? Thank You

Expert Reply:
The Curt Multi-Ball Mount part # C42KR has more than enough capacity for a 7,900 lb trailer as long as the trailer uses a 2 inch or 2-5/16 inch ball (it will). The capacity for the 2 inch ball is 10k and the capacity for the 2-5/16 inch ball is 14k.
This ball mount also has zero rise or drop. For it to be ideal for your setup the height of the hitch from the top of the opening to the ground would need to be the same as from the bottom of the coupler to the ground on the trailer when it's level.
