Will Thule Pulse Large Cargo Box Fit Factory Pivoting Cross Bars, 2010 Subaru Outback Wagon

Question:

I have a 2010 Subaru Outback wagon and want to get a roof carrier box. Will this box fit if I just use the side rails that pivot to become crossbars and still be able to open the hatchback and sunroof? Or is it advisable, to purchase and install a rack mount system?

I spoke with my contact at Thule regarding the Pulse Cargo Box, # TH614, and your 2010 Subaru Outback Wagon with factory installed pivoting side rails/cross bars. She stated that the cargo box is a direct fit for your factory cross bars.

You will be able to open the rear hatch with, at most, minimal interference depending on how you adjust the box when mounting it (more forward would mean more clearance at the rear). The sunroof will not be functional as the box when installed will prevent it from fully opening. I have included a link to the installation details for the cargo box below.
