Question:
I have 2009 chevy 3500hd with a dump body , have no electric brakes from controller but if I slide manual knob I have them, all fuses are good. can I wire red wire direct from brake light switch ? and if so which wire gets spliced? I did notice that brake light switch has 4 wires off it Thank you

The 2009 Chevy Silverado 3500 has tow package wiring for a brake controller up under the dash. The red brake controller wire is the one associated with the brake pedal. If that connection is loose or the fuse for it has blown then that would be why the controller is not working when you step on the brake pedal.
If you choose to tap into the brake switch, then look for the wire that is light blue with a white stripe. The ignition will need to be turned on to see power on this wire. Use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 or a meter if you have one.
A colleague also suggested checking the # 12 fuse in the fuse panel on the SIDE of the dashboard that sits up against the driver's door when it's closed. If that fuse is fine, then the stoplight switch could be bad. The mid to late 2000s GM trucks were known to have stoplight switch issues.
