Question:
Is there a correct or preferred position for the coupler in relation to the locking latch?

Expert Reply:
I would recommend installing the Pro Series Gooseneck Coupler - Adjustable - Round - 2-5/16 inch Ball - 20,000 lbs part # PS0287790300, so that the set bolts are facing forward, then install the coupler in the tube and set it with the latching handle in the rear position so it would be accessible from either side of the vehicle. The inner tube can be set to any position desired simply by loosening the set screws and adjusting to the desired setting and then re tighten the set screws.
Another thing to consider is the placement of any safety chains attachment points in the bed of the truck.
