Is a Gasket Included in Valterra RV Water Heater By-Pass Kit P23503LFVP

Question:
Can you clarify the type of female threads on the three-way valves? The male thread going into the heater is clearly tapered male pipe thread. What is the threading of the female end that connects to RV plumbing? It has a thick gasket that would prevent proper connection of an RV MPT fittingcan that gasket be removed for a legitimate teflon-taped pipe thread connection?

What you see in the photo of the Valterra RV Water Heater By-Pass Kit # P23503LFVP is actually a roll of Teflon thread sealer tape. It does appear to be a thick flat gasket since it is packaged on its side. The 3-way valves use a 1/2-inch female thread that matches the two threaded male ports on each valve.
