Does this work for a 2016 that has the factory rail installed?

It sounds like you would like to have the factory installed above bed rails on your 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 and would like to add a gooseneck hitch in as well.

To do this you will want the to use an above the bed gooseneck hitch adapter. Since you have a 6 foot bed you may need an adapter with an offset like the Curt # 16055 with a 3 inch offset. If no offset is needed, I recommend the Curt Spyder # 16085. Both of these adapters will fit into your rails and secure like the 5th wheel does but will give you that gooseneck ball connection point. They are both rated for 25K and have a 7-year limited warranty.

Both these will give you a gooseneck option for your 2016 Chevy, but the full underbed kits like the B&W # BWGNRK1016 you were looking at will not be compatible with the factory installed above the bed system.
