Updated 05/25/2016 | Published 05/24/2016

Question:

Can I attach the ladder to the drivers rear side of my motor coach? I have a 41 ft Gulf Stream, Friendship G7 2004.

I checked several photos of the rear of your 2004 Gulfstream Friendship G7 motorhome and it appears to have its ladder installed at the right/rear corner. If you want to relocate the ladder to the driver's side you'll want to check with Gulfstream, using the motorhome's VIN, to confirm that there is enough structural material to safely allow ladder installation on that other side. It is possible that the underlying structure is the same on both sides of the coach but I would definitely check this with the manufacturer.

You may be able to remove interior panels to gain access to the area where the ladder hardware will attach, and see if there is need to install reinforcement. Again, the folks at Gulfstream may be able to offer some guidance on this point.

A replacement exterior RV ladder like the universal-fit Stromberg Carlson # LA-401 requires that the mounting point on the coach be strong enough to handle the weight on the ladder. If you were to install this ladder in the same spot as the original one you would be fine.
