Troubleshooting Rear Door Lock Stops Working After Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock PAL8120Q Install

Question:

Hello. Installed the kit using the tan and gray wires on my 2012 2500hd crew cab. Tested lock and unlock with a light. Strange issue. Now the rear door locks do not work, and now both the gray and tan light up the test light when LOCKING only. Neither light when unlocking. Any ideas on this? All fuses ohm to 0 in the side dash fuse panel.

It sounds as if you used the wrong wires when installing the part # PAL8120Q. There can be some color variance with the wires you would need to use. Sometimes the correct wire to use is blue and tan.

I would first try removing the # PAL8120Q to see if that allows the locks to start working again and then retest the wires to be sure you are getting the correct circuits.

You may need to check for blown fuses under the hood of your truck as well.

To ensure you are locating the proper wires, I recommend using a test light like # PTW2993. Once you find the wires that you think may be correct, probe the wire with the test light and activate the door locks.

I attached an install video that shows the lock being installed on a similar Silverado as yours as well.
