Question:

I have a 2002 Honda Odyssey and I want to install a hitch for a bike rack for now. I may want to use it for a camper in the future. Our van is getting old so we will probably be replacing it in the next few years. Is there a hitch that I can buy now, that I can take off and install onto another Odyssey in the future, say 2010-2015? Are the vans frames different that we cannot do this? What is your recommendation? This website and videos have been very helpful!!!

Yes, there is a hitch that will fit both your 2002 and newer model Honda Odysseys. The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2002 Honda Odyssey is the Draw-Tite Class III Max frame Round Tube Receiver Hitch # 75270. This hitch offers a 2 inch trailer hitch that will work well with a wide variety of bike racks. No drilling is required to install this trailer hitch.

The # 75270 hitch is confirmed to fit 1999-2016 model year Honda Odysseys, so it will work well for the newer Odyssey you plan to buy in the future. Keep in mind that the hitch installation hardware is not designed to be re-used. When re-installing the hitch, you will want to use new installation hardware. This new hardware is available under part # RHK. You would want to put the part number for the hitch, 75270, in the "Hitch Item Number" box, and then select Draw-Tite from the drop down selection.
