Question:
I have installed a Napa impulse electronic Trailer break controller in my 2008 Chevy Tahoe and have power only when I compress the manual button. I get nothing when I compress the breaks. I have gone over my wiring on both the controller and the factory tow package wires themselves. I have replaced fuses and am still having the same results. I am at a loss. What can I trouble shoot next to accomplish results

When a brake controller works with the manual override but not the brake pedal that indicates a problem on the red input wire to the controller. Use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to test the red wire. It should have power when you step on the brake pedal.
If it does not, then the controller could be connected to the wrong wire on your 2008 Chevy Tahoe or there is a blown stop light or CHMSL fuse.
In the tow package wire bundle under the dash of the 2008 Tahoe there is a light blue wire with a white stripe. That is the wire that needs to be connected to the brake controller red wire.
If there is power going into the controller on that red wire when you step on the brake pedal but the controller does not send power back to the trailer brakes then there is a problem inside the brake controller and it will need to be replaced.
I recommend the P2 # 90885 because it is easy to set up and use and it is reliable.
