Installing Stromberg Carlson Replacement Exterior Ladder LA-401 on 1998 Holiday Rambler Vacationer

Updated 04/01/2016 | Published 03/30/2016

Question:

Hello, I have a 98 Holiday Rambler Vacationer. The mounting points to the coach are riveted to the body. will they need to be drilled out and replaced with screws or re riveted? or will they need to be relocated to another point on the back. if so, how will I know if they are in the right spot. maybe keeping inline with the other holes since they are probably attached to a support stud in the back wall. thanks in advance!

A replacement RV ladder such as the Stromberg Carlson # LA-401 must be installed at the same mounting points as the original ladder. This will ensure that the ladder is secured to structural points on the coach, and not merely to its exterior skin. The ladder will meet its 250-lb weight rating only if installed at a suitable point on the coach frame.

If you cannot re-use the original mounting points for any reason you'll want to check with Holiday Rambler using your coach's VIN to find out if they can confirm whether there are any other suitable mounting points on your particular RV. If alternate hardware is needed to mount the new ladder they'll be the best source for determining the correct fasteners and mounting location.
