How to See Better Behind an 8 Foot, 3 Inch Wide Trailer Towed by a 2006 Toyota Sequoia

Updated 02/25/2016 | Published 02/24/2016

Question:

My bumper-tow trailer is 8foot 3inch wide. Does the fender mount mirror sick out far enough so the driver can see around a trailer of that width? [I tried a clip-on towing mirror. It was blown off today as it was hit by the pressure wave from a truck passing in the opposite direction on a two lane highway on the Navajo Indian Reservation. The way I had to mount it was the problem. I could not see around the side of the trailer when the clip-on mirror was tucked in tight against the factory side mirror. So I mounted the mirror as far out a possible and I could just see along the side of the trailer. I believe that when the rubber straps became coated with road dust they lost their adhesive properties and that is why the mirror blew away.]

Universal Fender Mount Towing Mirror # WM6600 extends out from the fender by about 17 inches. What you can do to determine how much visibility you will have is to have someone hold a mirror in about that same location, 17 inches out from the fender on your 2006 Toyota Sequoia, and then sit in the driver seat and check out the view.

Another option other than a towing mirror is to use a camera system such as # 04928. This is a wireless system so I recommend have the camera part mounted up high so the signal has a clearer shot to the monitor. This will give you a much better view than a mirror. I have linked a video review of this camera for you.
