Question:

Hi - besides the drilling aspect - what is the big difference between these hitches - does the C13224 offer more stability/larger towing capacity ? I have a 2015 Ford Edge SEL.

The Curt Class III hitch, part C13224 is being replaced by the # C13234. Both hitches have the same stability and towing capacity, but the # C13234 fits ALL models of the 2015 Edge, while the C13224 fits all models with the exception of the Sport model. Curt is replacing the C13224 because fit-wise, the C13234 is more versatile and it makes more sense to have one hitch application that fits all models of a given vehicle.

If you'll be using the hitch for towing purposes, you'll likely need the following parts to complete your towing set-up:

Trailer wiring harness, part # 118669
Ball mount, part # D-4
1-7/8 trailer ball, part # 19260 or # 63845 for a 2 inch ball
Hitch pin and clip, part # PC3
Locking hitch pin, part # e98882
