Expert Reply:
The correct Curt 2-inch Class III hitch for the 2016 Kia Sportage is part # C13120. This also fits the 2015 model year.
This Curt hitch comes complete with all required installation hardware. I have linked the written instructions as well as an install video showing a 2015 model year. The only specialized tool needed is a torque wrench like # ALL944001 which will let you tighten the fasteners to the correct torque values.
If you plan to move the hitch from one vehicle to another please note that you cannot re-use the hardware. Hitch hardware is single-use-only and a replacement hardware kit, part # RHK, will be needed. Just enter that part into our search box and press enter. Then click on it and enter the hitch part number and manufacturer in the fields provided.
The recommended ball mount for this hitch is part # C45030 but you can select another with the right rise or drop to keep your trailer level by reviewing the linked article. For a hitch ball use 2-inch # 63845 or 2-5/16-inch # 63847. For a trailer wiring harness you can use Curt 4-pole wiring kit # C56251. A helpful article on harness installation is provided as well.

I have a 2016 Kia Sportage and recently bought the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" trailer hitch and wiring kit. My question is: can the wiring kit be connected to the 12volt outlet in the rear compartment or does the wiring need to be run to the battery?
