The replacement skewer # SA9714T is the one that will need to be used, instead of your bike's original skewer, because it is designed to specifically fit the slider tube assembly on the CycleOps trainers.
If the trainer you purchase has an included quick release skewer and your bike has the ability to use it, you should have no issues securing the bike properly into the trainer.
This skewer is just a replacement part for the trainer, if it's not included or gets damaged. As an added bonus CycleOps states that this skewer is for indoor or outdoor use so you won't have to keep swapping out your bike's skewer between trainings and rides.
