Why Can't Factory Hitch of 2006 Dodge Ram Be Removed to Install Curt Hitch

Why cant u remove the factory hitch and then install new hitch? Then it wont look so weird?

The OEM hitch on your Ram truck is welded to a cross member located behind the rear bumper. The cross member is an integral part of the vehicle structure and should not be removed, according to Curt.
