Question:
I do have 3 inch 7000 # axles on my TH and need new U bolts. Original are 1/2 diameter, do you think upgrading to 9/16 diameter is good idea or is not necessary and 1/2 are just the fine ? THX

Expert Reply:
Sticking with the 1/2 inch u-bolts is perfectly fine for your 7,000 pounds axles. Going to 9/16 inch wouldn't hurt either and if you decide to go that route then you will also need to replace the u-bolt plates and the nuts. For a kit that includes the u-bolts, plates, and nuts I recommend # APUBR-9. You would need 1 per axle. I have included a link to a video of this product for you.
