Question:

I have a prodigy P2 trailer brake controller that shows an oL alram only when the trailer is loaded and only after Ive driven a little while. When the trailer is empty or wen I first head out, the thing works fine. Any idea where to begin troubleshooting? Thanks

The OL code means that the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885 senses an overloaded circuit on the trailer. Since the code shows on the brake controller after you've been driving for a while, it sounds like you may have a loose connection somewhere.

I recommend checking the wiring connections on your trailer to ensure they are all secure. You can start with the connections at the brake assemblies, trailer connector, and lights. It is a good idea to check any other connections as well. Whenever there is a butt connector, like # 05732-2, you can lightly tug on the wires to see if one slides out of the connector easily, indicating a loose connection.

While checking the wiring connections, it is also a good idea to check for any corrosion at the trailer connector or ground wires.
