I know the wagon has the white plug in the back to plug the kit in. Does the sedan also have the same plug to plug the kit in? If yes, will this kit work for the sedan?

The factory connector to plug in a trailer wiring harness should be relatively in the same spot on your 2005 Subaru Outback Sedan as it is in the wagon models. That is to say behind the rear most trim panel in the trunk area on the passenger's side of the vehicle. I have linked a video showing an example installation for you.
If you are unable to locate the factory harness or if your Outback is a model that did not receive one you would need to use a hardwire harness such as # C59236.
