Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 1992 Ford F-150 Towing Heavy Farm Equipment

Question:

I have a 1992 ford f150 xlt shortbed 4x4 with 5.0 v8 and a 3.55 rear end and a E4od trans truck has factory towing package and overload springs we have a farm and the truck is push to the limit and way beyond we are towing between 5000 and 9000lbs moving tractors and a mini excavator and a small bobcat the trans shifts great but gets hot after iam wanting to keep the trans as cool as possible what cooler would you recommend

We can't ever safely recommend you exceed the towing capacities of a truck like your 1992 Ford F-150.

However, for a transmission cooler for your truck the best option is going to be to go with the largest one you can fit in front of your radiator.

The Plate Fin Cooler part # D13614 would be a great option. This is a larger cooler that measures 11W x 11-3/8T x 1-1/4D Inch and is a very efficient design cooler. You will also need the fitting part # D13014 to make the install easier.

This might help prolong the life of your transmission (depending on if you have damaged it by overloading it), but it would not prevent damage to other components of your truck from having it overloaded.
