Installing Winch With Separate Battery In Bed Of Truck
Updated 10/26/2015 | Published 10/25/2015 >
Question:
If I am using a separate battery to run an ATV electric winch mounted in my pickup bed, does the rocker switch need to be connnected to that battery i.e. the power source or do I still need to connect the rocker switch to my pickup ignition?

For the application you have described, I recommend using the Superwinch LT2000 Electric Utility Winch # 1120210. This system doesn't require a solenoid or splicing into the ignition circuit. I have attached a diagram showing the wiring for this utility winch.
To protect the winch battery in the bed of your truck, I recommend using a battery box. I have attached a link to all of our battery boxes for you.
