Will the base plates fit any tow bar?

The Roadmaster MX Base Plate Kit, part # 3154-3 will work only with the Roadmaster tow bars that slide into a trailer hitch, such as the Sterling, Blackhawk, Blackhawk 2, Falcon and Falcon 2. The MX base plates will not work with tow bars that require a hitch ball.
If you are looking for base plates that are designed to fit your 2016 Explorer, we offer the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, part # BX2668. These base plates will fit the Blue Ox Aventa, Aladdin, Alpha, and Avail tow bars.
These base plates can be used with Roadmaster tow bars with adapters that are sold separately like part # RM-031 or part # RM-031-5.
