I need to understand how this hitch attaches to my BMW. What needs to be cut away? thanks,

Per the instructions provided by Curt, no fascia trimming is required for installation of this particular hitch. I confirmed this by phone with one of my contacts in Curt Tech Services, as well.
Four holes will need to be drilled for installation, and you will want to make sure to caulk around the bolt holes in the trunk pan after installation to prevent exhaust fumes and water from entering the vehicle.
