To choose a weight distribution system you will need to go by the total tongue weight of the set up. This is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer, when loaded and ready to tow, and adding to that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.

Tongue weight is typically 10 t0 15 percent of the gross trailer weight (but could be more). For a trailer weighing 3,200 pounds to 4,200 pounds the tongue weight range should be around 320 to 630 pounds. A system rated for 1,000 pounds tongue weight would be too heavy for this amount of tongue weight.

To cover most of that range you can use Reese system # RP66540 which is rated for 200 to 600 pounds tongue weight. Then, to add sway control, you would just need sway control, # 83660, and a properly sized ball such as # A-90 for a 2 inch or # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch.
