All you should need to install an aftermarket brake controller like the P3 # 90195 that you referenced in a 2015 Ford F-350 Cab and Chassis is the correct install harness part # 3034-P. There would be no need for you to have the computer of the truck messed with at all.
Since the truck is brand new the trailer is most likely where the problem lies unless you know that it works with a different truck.
You will want to first check the trailer connector for corrosion and clean as necessary as this is most commonly the problem. Next you will want to check the grounds of the brake assemblies. Make sure they are connected to a clean metal surface. It may be necessary to run the grounds back to the main ground of the trailer. Next check the wiring of the brake output circuit. Make sure there are not cuts or obvious shorts.
Finally it could be bad brake magnets. I attached a help article that details how to troubleshoot this.
