Brake Controller and Install Recommendation for a 2002 Toyota Sequoia

Updated 07/09/2015 | Published 07/08/2015

Question:

I am considering whether to DIY or pay to have a brake controller installed on my 2002 Toyota Sequoia. I watched your video for a 2002 Tundra and I know they are similar so it looks like something I can do. The only thing I can not figure out is what wire will be used to trigger the brake controller when the brakes are pressed. The video for the Tundra mentioned a green wire with a white stripe. I didnt see that wire when I took a glance under my dash. Is it a different color for the Sequoia?

You will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # C55246.

From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well. To find the stoplight switch you will need to use a circuit tester like part # 3808 to test all of the wires at the brake pedal switch until you find the one that only sees voltage when the brakes are applied. Wire color info isn't available so this would be the best way to do it.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
