Does Trailer Ground Circuit Run to Trailer Frame

Question:
Can the ground wire be connected directly to the trailer frame,and will this suffice for the electric needs lights ,brakes?

The ground circuit of trailer wiring does often times run straight to the frame of the trailer. This makes for easier ground wiring of all the circuits that are on the trailer wiring. Instead of having to route every ground wire back to the trailer connector you can just wire it to the nearest section of trailer frame.
