How to Remove Undercoating on 2013 Nissan Murano to Install Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13577

Question:

There seems to be a thick coating rubberized on the Muranos mounting surfaces for the hitch. This coating is obstructing the weldnut holes. Have you seen this before? any suggestions on how to remove coating and proceed?

It sounds to me like the dealer applied some type of undercoating to the vehicle. In this case you could try removing it off of the weld nuts with a putty knife in order to install the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver, # 13577, on your 2013 Nissan Murano.

If you are unable to remove the coating yourself, I recommend contacting the dealer or the company that applied the undercoating for instructions on how to remove it from the weld nuts.
