Troubleshooting Camco Automatic Changeover 2-Stage Propane Regulator

Question:
I have my new CAM59005 regulator connected to a one new, full 30 lb tank to the right side inlet port. I have the tank flow knob pointing to right side inlet tank. I have the left side inlet port plugged temporarily with a steel threaded plug with yellow gas type joint compound. I seem have gas flow from tank to regulator but, the regulator window is showing RED and I dont seem to be getting gas flow out of the regulator. The reason I am just using one tank is I wanted to see how long my 30 lb tank would last before I order another 30 lb tank or maybe a 40 lb tank. When the gas guy was filling my new tank for the first time....he used a screwdriver on the screw adjustment on left side of regulator....I assumed he was just adjusting so it would fill faster? Would this affect the regulator performance? Does having the left side inlet plugged prevent the regulator from working on the one tank or is my new CAM59005 faulty?

I spoke with my contact at CAMCO and he said it sounds like rushing the LP through the Automatic Changeover 2-Stage Propane Regulator # CAM59005 caused the check valve to automatically shut off.
He recommended turning off all propane at the bottle and turning off all downstream appliances and wait about 15 minutes for the system to reset, then when you hear a click in the green nut the system will be reset and you can turn back on the propane at the bottle.
