Question:

Can a roof rack be used on my 2014 Ford Escape with a glass top. I will be using it to haul a couple of kayaks: 12foot Valley and a 17foot fiberglass kayak, combined weight about 110 lbs. any advice or recommendations would be appreciated.

There are options to add a roof rack to your 2014 Ford Escape with panoramic glass roof. If you have a naked roof, no side rails, then you can use the following:

From Thule you can use:

53 inch WingBars # TH711400 in silver or # TH711420 in black
Evo Clamp foot pack # TH710501
Fit kit # TH145192

Then you could use 2 of the Hull-A-Port carriers, # TH834. To mount them to the bars you will also need # THXADAPT11, one for each # TH834.

If your Escape does have the factory side rails then you can use the same crossbars but instead of the foot pack and fit kit use the Evo raised rail feet # TH710401 with 2 of the Hull-A-Port carriers, # TH834, and 2 of the adapters # THXADAPT11. Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual and/or Ford for the roof capacity prior to loading.
