Question:
i have a dodge tacoma pu, it has a bumper that is narrow in middle with a hole for a ball. would a bolt on atv receiver work if all i wanted to attach was a bicycle rack? didnt want to spend 150+ for something rated for towing and thought this might be a simple to mount and inexpensive solution.

What I recommend is going with the Curt 2 bike bolt-on rack # C18011 because it will mount to any ball mount or step bumper and can hold 2 bikes with a maximum weight of 70 pounds.
Unfortunately the Curt ATV ball mount adapter # C45006 you referenced will not work because it will bend.
If you end up going with a trailer hitch, I recommend the Class-III Draw-Tite # 75038 because it has a 500 pound tongue weight capacity and it's a bolt-on installation. The custom wiring harness is # 118323. If you have an existing tow package use wiring # 118381.
