Question:

I have a Roadmaster Sterling No. 026820. Do I need anything other than this Part #3109-1 for my 2005 Trailblazer? Do I need the Roadmaster Quick Disconnect Tow Bar Base Assembly or does that just make things easier to connect and disconnect?

To flat tow a vehicle behind a motor home you will need base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking.

For base plates the Roadmaster XL base plates # 3109-1 you mentioned are correct for your 2005 Chevy Trailblazer and they are compatible with your Sterling tow bar. The Sterling tow bar cannot attach to the base plates without the base bar. If you need the bar it is # RM-910012-00.

The Sterling tow bars came with safety cables so you won't need to add any.

For lighting I recommend the 6-diode kit # 154-792-118158. If you need a connector to go with the 6-Pin harness on the Sterling tow bar use # RM-910030-7. Check the owners manual for the vehicle because it looks like you will need to pull a fuse to flat tow the vehicle. To make this process as easy as flipping a switch I recommend using fuse bypass # RM76511.

And finally, most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the easiest systems to set up and use is the Even Brake proportional system # RM-9400. It will apply the Trailblazer brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the easiest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
