Question:
Greetings. I would like to set up my new vehicle for dinghy towing, and confirm that I have identified the right baseplate. The vehicle is a 2015 Ford Explorer Limitied 3.5L non Eco-Boost with adaptive cruise control, collision warning, and parking/lane assist. My plan is to have the RoadMaster 4427-3A installed. I also plan on having the RoadMaster 154-792-118158 wiring installed for the lighting. Can you please confirm that these are the correct parts for my Explorer? For everything else, I will use the existing RoadMaster towbar and RViBrake 2 that I use with my 2014 Chevy Sonic. Thank you.

The Roadmaster MX Base Plate Kit, part # 4427-3A is designed to work on your 2015 Explorer if the towbar you have is a Roadmaster Sterling, Blackhawk, Blackhawk 2, Falcon and Falcon 2. The MX base plates will not work with tow bars that require a hitch ball.
If you have separate brake and turn signals on your Explorer, the Roadmaster Tow Bar Wiring, part # 154-792-118158 will work great for you. This includes everything needed to wire your Explorer for flat-towing.
Since you have done some flat-towing in the past it sounds like you have the other items you will need to tow your Explorer. If you need any of the other items like safety cables, supplemental brake, etc, let me know and I can make some recommendations.
