Question:

We have a dual need - surfboards and kayak hauling. It would be nice to have one rack that will do this. Can the 811XT be used to secure a kayak? If so, are there size limitations for the straps, etc. Any info. would be appreciated - thanks

The SUP Shuttle # TH811XT is not designed to carry a kayak. Although Thule was recently here and that question came up and they said it was possible but definitely not recommended. Based on all this information I strongly advise against putting a kayak on this carrier.

We do have many other kayak carriers. I have included a link to them for you.

I recommend a kayak carrier that will hold the kayak up on its side, such as The Stacker, # TH830, which will provide you the most amount of free space on the roof rack to carry other items. But you will need about 40 inches of bar space to account for the SUP Shuttle.
